In February 1990, a group of Norwegians, represented by Mr. K. Martinsen and T.A.Fjeld, started the humanitarian activities of Foundation Norsk Nødhjelp (Norwegian Aid) in Romania, beeing the first foundation registered at Health Ministry – Interdepartment Commision for Coordinating and Supporting of Humanitarian Activities, after events from December 1989. The foundation ran projects as a brench of Norwegian Aid until 1994, when took the juridical personality and became Humanitarian Non-profit Society ”Romania – Norsk Nødhjelp”. In September 1998, the foundation changed the name in “Foundation The Door Romania – Humanitarian Aid Projects” and continued to run the projects under Norwegian financing.

In 19th of September 1999, the Placement Center of the Foundation from Mogosoaia, was inaugurated by His Majesty King Harald of Norway and Queen Sonia.

The Foundation “The Door Romania – Humanitarian Aid Projects” has as purpose to initiate and to develop, on the theritory of Romania, humanitarian activities, in the advantage of children in difficulty, of the Institution for Children Protection, especially for children with handicap, orphans, old people, invalids, people with physical or spiritual needs.

The Door Foundation from Romania operates in connection with Norsk Nødhjelp Foundation from Norway.

The Norsk Nødhjelp Foundation is the founder and financer of The Door Foundation .

In order to insure the quality of the activities lead by the Romanian structure, the Norsk Nødhjelp Foundation’s international leader is member by law of its Board of Directors.
